It seems some 7 Days to Die players on console are hitting a snag. A number of users are reporting getting stuck on the “initializing world” loading screen. This issue appears to be preventing them from getting into the game.
One Xbox player, Xtkk-, shared their experience, saying they tried to load into the game but got stuck on the “initializing world” screen. They mentioned no error messages popped up, just a frozen screen. Xtkk- even tried clearing their save data, but it didn’t solve the problem.
Another user, Croaker_76, replied to Xtkk-‘s post, suggesting a full delete and reinstall of the game worked for them when they had a similar issue. Xtkk- confirmed they were trying that exact solution, hoping it would fix things.
Meanwhile, on the PlayStation side, LOBA-THICC brought up similar loading woes. They stated it was taking nearly ten minutes to load into a world, often crashing midway through. They also noted they couldn’t even join friends because of the problem. When another player, Warper1980, said they had no issues on their PS5, LOBA-THICC wondered if it might be related to crossplay. Warper1980 then floated the idea of storage space being a factor, suggesting that if the game is trying to download the world, there might not be enough room to store it. LOBA-THICC responded that they had deleted other worlds and made space, but the game still kicks them back to the main screen while trying to download the world.
It’s not just recent complaints either. A Reddit thread from about a week ago shows Mindless_Office_746 on PS5 reporting the same “initializing world” lock-up. They suspected a corrupted save file but were reluctant to lose their progress. The OP also mentioned trying to rebuild the database on their PS5 in safe mode, which didn’t help, and was considering a full game reinstall.
Apart from Reddit, some frustrated players have also taken to X to seek help from the developers. For instance, the official 7 Days Blood Moons account recently announced a developer stream for July 15th. In response to this announcement on X, a player named Dylan Johnson directly requested a fix for the “infinite initializing world issue on console.”
So it’s clear that his isn’t just a one-off bug. Hopefully, the developers will address the problem sooner rather than later. In the meantime, feel free to drop a comment below in case you too are facing the problem.
