Spotify seems to have finally listened to all the feedback in the past few months. Users can breathe a sigh of relief as the music streaming platform has quietly rolled out a new setting that allows them to hide the controversial ‘Create’ button from their main navigation bar.

The Create button, which was added to Spotify’s mobile app navigation a few months ago, quickly became a source of frustration for many users. The button, designed to help users create new playlists, was seen as taking up valuable real estate in the bottom navigation bar where users preferred quick access to their core music features.

As we reported in May, the backlash against the button came pretty quickly. Community forums were lighting up with complaints, and one popular “Ideas” submission post demanding the option to remove the Create button from the navigation bar got close to two thousand votes.

Users have been spotting the new toggle in their app settings over the past day, with some taking to Reddit to share their discovery. The setting can be found under Settings > Content and display, where a simple toggle allows users to remove the Create button from appearing in their main navigation bar. I also spotted the setting on the latest Spotify app for Android, however, it’s still missing on the iOS counterpart.

Spotify also confirmed the change on the very same “Ideas” post where they’ve changed the status to “Implemented” and have also noted the following:

The response from users has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing relief that Spotify finally listened to their feedback. “Yeah, just got it and immediately turned it off,” wrote one Reddit user, while others thanked fellow users for sharing the location of the new setting. Some users even noted that they had seen the button disappear temporarily before reappearing, likely during Spotify’s testing phase.

For users eager to clean up their navigation bar, the setting appears to be rolling out gradually. Those who don’t see the option yet will likely receive it in upcoming app updates as Spotify continues its phased deployment across different regions and devices.
