Artificial intelligence is everywhere in tech these days. Companies are racing to add AI into their products, hoping to make life easier and devices smarter. Apple usually leads the pack when it comes to innovation. But lately, they’re hitting some bumps in the road with their AI plans, especially with Apple Intelligence and a big Siri upgrade.

Apple Intelligence rolled out with some neat ideas like writing tools to help you draft emails, voicemail transcriptions so you can read instead of listen, and even custom emojis you can create yourself. Sounds cool, right? The problem is, not many people are using them. According to a report by Mark Gurman, the company’s data shows that adoption is way lower than expected. It’s a head-scratcher because Apple hyped these features big-time, but they’re not convincing folks to rush out and buy new gadgets.

Then there’s Siri. Apple had big dreams to make it more like a real conversation buddy, tapping into your personal info to give better answers. They planned to launch this souped-up version with iOS 19, but it’s not going smoothly. Word from inside Apple is that the project’s delayed. We might not see a fully modern Siri until iOS 20, maybe not even until 2027. This holds up with the previous rumors we heard about serious AI features being delayed. That’s a long wait for something they promised would change how we talk to our devices.

Meanwhile, the competition isn’t sitting still. Amazon just dropped Alexa+, a super-smart assistant that knows you and your world. Google and Microsoft are also pushing their AI hard. Apple’s feeling the heat. Part of their struggle comes down to how they do things. They’re big on privacy, which is great for users but tough for AI. Unlike rivals with tons of data from cloud services, Apple’s limited in what it can use to train its systems, however, it too was roped in some controversy soon after Apple Intelligence was announced.

That said, this matters a lot. AI isn’t just a fancy add-on — it’s the future of tech. If Apple can’t keep up, they might lose their spot at the top, especially when companies like Google and Samsung are putting AI to good use already and making Apple’s offering seem like a joke.

Still, Apple’s got a knack for bouncing back. They’ve got the cash, the talent, and a loyal crowd. The question is whether they can fix these AI hiccups in time. For now, it’s a rocky road, but don’t count them out yet.
