Every year, music streaming services like to remind us of what we’ve been jamming to over the past 12 months. Spotify’s Wrapped gets all the attention, with flashy graphics and playlists that flood social media. Apple Music’s version, Replay, was never as cool, but at least it worked — until now.
Apple Music users are taking to Reddit and forums to vent their frustration about Replay 2024 being a no-show or completely broken. While Spotify users are busy posting their top artists and podcasts, Apple Music fans are either staring at a blank Replay page or getting hit with messages saying they “didn’t listen enough” this year. And judging by the anger online, many have been listening a lot.
One user on Reddit shared that their Replay hasn’t updated since July, despite using Apple Music daily. Another mentioned their Replay only shows songs they downloaded before January, while newer tracks are mysteriously missing. Even when users turn on “Use Listening History” in settings (if it was accidentally off), Replay still doesn’t work. The frustration is real, with one user saying, “I’m LIVID! I’ve done EVERYTHING, and it’s still not working!”
For some, the issue isn’t just about stats — it’s about what Replay represents. Apple Music Replay should be the ultimate reflection of your music year, but many users feel it’s falling apart. Unlike Spotify Wrapped, which drops in early December with plenty of fanfare, Apple’s Replay doesn’t seem to care about timing or hype. This year, Replay reportedly still says it’s “in progress” and suggests checking back in January.
Let’s be honest: no one wants their “2024 music recap” in 2025.
It’s not just about delays, though. The entire system feels clunky compared to Spotify’s polished presentation. Replay lacks the fun animations and shareable features that make Spotify Wrapped a yearly event. Apple Music’s minimalist approach might work for some things, but in this case, it just feels…lazy.
As someone who uses Apple Music (though not as much as YouTube Music, admittedly), I expected Replay to show me something. But like many others, I see no stats, no playlist — nothing. And it’s not because I didn’t listen to enough music. I listened to plenty of songs in April (at least that’s what I think), but Apple gave me nothing.
Apple Music support hasn’t been much help either. Some users who contacted support were apparently told to wait it out. Others were advised to ensure “Listening History” was on all year, which isn’t exactly helpful if you already knew that. Meanwhile, a few users have taken matters into their own hands, manually creating playlists of their top tracks to fill the void.
The mess has sparked questions about why Replay is such a low priority for Apple. With all its resources, why can’t Apple Music offer something as seamless and enjoyable as Spotify Wrapped? Replay already lacks Wrapped’s personality; now it’s losing its reliability too.
If Apple wants to keep users invested, they’ll need to fix this — fast. Otherwise, more frustrated listeners might start looking at Spotify or even YouTube Music. And let’s face it, no one wants to keep paying for a service that can’t even tell you what you’ve been listening to all year.
So, if you’re refreshing your Replay page for the 10th time today, hoping it’ll finally load — don’t hold your breath. You’re not alone in your frustration. But hey, at least you have your own playlists to fall back on, right? If you’re one of the lucky ones who’ve got their AM Replay, Spotify Wrapped, or YouTube Music Recap, then you can have a little more fun with the stats by having AI roast you.
