The latest update to the Arc Browser brought exciting new features, but not without some temporary setbacks. Initially, the update introduced a much-anticipated Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode on Windows. However, due to stability issues, the feature was quickly disabled.

The Arc team acknowledged the issue on Reddit, stating, “We detected some instability issues with the new PiP mode and so we have temporarily disabled the feature! Sorry for that! It’s coming back soon!” Despite the setback, the promise of its return is all that users wanted to hear.

Alongside the temporary PiP hiccup, Arc delivered on another major promise: Arc Max for Windows. This suite of AI-powered features aims to supercharge your browsing experience. The initial launch includes two exciting functionalities:

    1. Tidy Tabs: This feature automatically organizes your sidebar into neat categories, simplifying navigation and decluttering your workspace.
    2. Ask on Page: By pressing Control-F, users can now pose questions about the current webpage, leveraging Arc’s AI capabilities to provide instant answers. You can toggle AI features on or off in Arc Settings.

Beyond PiP and Arc Max, the July 11, 2024, v.1.10.0 update also brought several other enhancements to the Arc browser on Windows:

    1. Mini Player (Picture-in-Picture): Although temporarily disabled, the PiP mode was introduced with skip/rewind controls and a visual refresh. This addition aims to make multitasking smoother for users who enjoy watching videos while browsing.
    2. Settings persistence: Responding to user feedback, the update fixed an issue where settings weren’t being saved across restarts. This fix ensures a more seamless user experience.
    3. Command Bar: The scroll bar has been removed from the Command Bar, resulting in a cleaner user interface and resolving a common bug.

Arc’s dedication to innovation and user feedback shines through in this update. While the temporary PiP setback is a minor bump in the road, the introduction of Arc Max and other enhancements is a welcome for Windows users.

As Windows users eagerly await the return of PiP mode, they can already dive into the world of Arc Max, experiencing a smarter, more organized, and efficient way to browse the web.
