In a fabulous twist to tackle recent loading woes, fanfiction haven Archive of Our Own (AO3) has unleashed a new, fabulously gay domain upon the world. That’s right, folks – say hello to https://archiveofourown.gay!
After weeks of users dramatically lamenting slow loading times, AO3 decided to spice things up. Their solution? A domain name that’s as colorful as their content. AO3 tweeted that while they’re still working with providers to fix the main site (estimated time: a fashionably late 1-2 weeks), users can strut their stuff over to the new .gay domain for a potentially smoother experience.
The internet, predictably, lost its collective mind. One user exclaimed, “My reading could have been gayer this whole time??” while another lamented, “Can’t believe I was using straight ao3 this whole time. Thank god for gay ao3.”
Some users are already head over heels for the new URL. “Honestly like the sound of http://archiveofourown.gay better than the regular one,” one smitten netizen confessed. Another declared it their “saviour,” complete with a parade of rainbow emojis that would make any Pride float jealous.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the internet without a dash of skepticism. Some cautious users wondered if this ‘gayification’ was legit or just another online trick. Rest assured, AO3 says it’s the real deal – no catfishing here!
While the new domain might not solve all of life’s problems (some users reported they still couldn’t log in), it’s certainly added a splash of rainbow to AO3’s tech troubles. Who knew server issues could be so fabulously solved? I tested the site, and it appeared to load just fine. That said, feel free to share your experience in the comments section below.
