Some Black Ops 6 players are reporting that their crosshairs have mysteriously vanished when playing in Hardcore Mode, all after the recent Season 4 Reloaded update. Aiming accurately in a fast-paced shooter without that central aiming point can feel impossible. But I guess that’s the whole point of the HC mode.

That said, the issue seems to affect players across different platforms. Even those who have confirmed their crosshair settings are enabled in the game’s menu are finding themselves out of luck in Hardcore matches. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher because the crosshairs appear just fine in regular Core modes and even in private games. This specific bug is making hardcore a much tougher challenge than intended.

“I can no longer see the crosshair or center dot while playing hardcore. It works fine in core, but it’s totally gone from hardcore,” one frustrated player posted on Reddit. Many others quickly chimed in, confirming they were experiencing the same thing.

Some players are wondering if this is an intentional change, a throwback to older Call of Duty titles where Hardcore modes truly meant minimal HUD. But if it is, the communication around it has been less than clear, leaving many to believe it is simply a bug.

Another player, however, quickly countered, saying, “I’ve always had crosshairs. I only play hardcore multiplayer. I’m on PC if that makes a difference.” The difference in player experience just adds to the confusion.

For many, the crosshair is more than just an aiming tool. Some players rely on the center dot for motion sickness, and its absence has made playing even more difficult. One player posted that they “changed all the settings around, tried static, took the custom color off,” but nothing worked.

However, it seems that while players are hoping that the crosshairs make an official comeback, some are resorting to nifty tricks like placing a small piece of tape on their monitor to mark the center of their screen. There are even some gaming monitors that have a built-in crosshair overlay feature, as pointed out by one Redditor. So yes, you can resort to such “workarounds” in the meantime.
