Call of Duty Black Ops 6 players are reporting a frustrating split-screen bug following the game’s Season 2 update. Players say adding a second person to multiplayer or zombies lobbies now kicks them out instantly. The issue has sparked hundreds of complaints online, with many calling for an urgent fix.

Shortly after Season 2 went live, several players took to Reddit to see if others were facing issues with split screen. One such post was from u/disgracedchicken. They wrote:

Me and my girlfriend usually play split screen on Xbox and play Zombies and multiplayer but it won’t even connect now. It says “split screen added” and then right after “party member left.”

The post quickly gained traction, with over 300 upvotes and upwards of 400 comments. Some players shared temporary fixes, like backing out to the game’s main menu before adding the second player. In a separate post that has nearly 500 comments, one player said, “Once you’re in the game lobby, back out until you reach the first menu where you press ‘A’ to start, then add the second player there.” Several users confirmed this workaround helped on PlayStation 5 and Xbox. But others said it took dozens of attempts or didn’t work at all.

One PS5 player, kutarta, explained their method. “Enter the game, close promotions, go back to the start menu, then press ‘X’ again,” they said. “Let the second player join there.” While this helped some, comments like — “This only worked after trying 26 times” — showed the fix wasn’t reliable.

I also found a video on YouTube that you could follow to fix the problem. However, judging by the comments section, it appears that the fix is mostly successful for those on Xbox. But there are a couple of comments from PS5 users who also claim it helped fix the problem. So maybe give it a shot:

Luckily, Treyarch hasn’t turned a blind eye to this major bug. The developers have already confirmed that they are investigating the problem through an update on the official Trello board that tracks the progress on known bugs and issues.

For now, fans are relying on trial-and-error fixes. Treyarch has not shared a timeline for a patch but is likely prioritizing a solution as complaints mount. Until then, split-screen partners may need patience.
