Some Discord users are scratching their heads after finding the app on their phones looking oddly zoomed out. Instead of the usual snug layout, text and menus appear smaller, with black borders on the edges of the screen. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Judging by reports online, it seems the bug is affecting users on iPhones.
What’s going on?
According to multiple reports on Reddit, this zoomed-out display seems to be triggered by accidental gestures near the screen’s edges, often by the “Send” button. As noted above, it seems to be a common issue on multiple iPhone models. The bug appears to impact server text channels, DMs, and the friend list, while other sections like video calls or settings seem unaffected.
Some have even shared screenshots of the bug, here’s one of them for reference:
Interestingly, some users speculate the issue is tied to lingering code from Discord’s “Launchpad” feature, even when it’s disabled.
How to fix it
For most users, the simplest fix seems to be to restart the app:
- Close Discord completely.
- Reopen the app.
This usually resets the layout back to normal. However, if the problem persists, try these additional steps:
- Force close the app: Swipe it away from your recent apps and reopen it.
- Reinstall Discord: Uninstalling and reinstalling the app has worked for a few users, especially if the zoom issue lingers after backups.
- Check for updates: Bugs like this are often patched quickly. Go to the App Store to make sure you’re running the latest version.
Is Discord fixing this?
So far, Discord hasn’t officially acknowledged this bug, but it’s been widely reported online. In the meantime, restarting the app seems to be the most reliable workaround. Hopefully, an update will roll out soon to squash this pesky bug for good. We’ll post an update if and when there’s something to share.
