The recent update to Disney Dreamlight Valley has sparked controversy among players due to changes in the game’s control scheme, particularly the remapping of the Glide button, which also used to Sprint. The update, which affects players across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, has left many gamers frustrated and calling for a return to the original controls.

Previously, the Glide/Sprint function was activated using the B button on Nintendo Switch, Circle on PlayStation, and B on Xbox. The new update has moved this control to the L button on Switch, L1 on PlayStation, and LB on Xbox. While this change allows players to control the camera while gliding or sprinting, it has been met with mixed reactions from the community.

Many players have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the new control scheme. One player complained about the discomfort of having to control both direction and sprint with their left hand on the Switch. Another player suggested allowing players to choose between left and right bumpers for the sprint function on Steam Deck.

The change has also raised accessibility concerns. Some players with hand issues or arthritis have reported that the new button placement is painful or difficult to use. One player said, “Moving it to the LB button makes it very hard and painful to use for people with hand issues, it’s almost impossible for me (and probably others) to use now.”

Not all feedback has been negative, however. Some players have defended the change, pointing out that many other games use similar control schemes for sprinting and camera control.

The controversy extends beyond just the Glide/Sprint button. Players have reported changes to other controls as well, including inventory management and building functions. These alterations have disrupted muscle memory for long-time players, leading to calls for customizable controls.

Despite the backlash, some players are adapting to the new system. Reddit user ShesARainbow initially expressed concerns but later noted, “Actually as I’m playing I’m realizing that as long as I don’t clench up too hard, it’s actually better than the old way.”

As the debate continues, many players are urging Disney Dreamlight Valley developers to implement an option to toggle between the old and new control schemes. This would allow players to choose the setup that works best for their play style and physical needs.

The developers have yet to officially respond to the controversy, but the passionate feedback from the community suggests that this issue may need to be addressed in future updates to maintain player satisfaction and accessibility. We’ll keep track of the situation and will post an update if and when there are any developments.
