Many Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO players have stormed Steam’s community forums and X reporting severe problems with the game’s online matchmaking. Players on Xbox say they haven’t been able to play online at all. We’re seeing reports about issues ranging from connection errors to game progress resetting surface online. Despite a new patch, players are still struggling to enjoy the game.

Naturally, reactions from players have been harsh. On X, many users vented their frustration at not being able to connect with friends online because they kept getting a “communication error” pop-up. For a game that’s most fun when played online, it’s understandable why players are demanding an immediate fix. Here’s what some gamers have to say about it.

Online is still borked with communication errors, good work guy’s. (Source)

So you tellin me, after all this i will still have communication error? so i still cant play online even after all the thousands of useless fix i did? this game man😂😂 (Source)

@dragonballgames @BandaiNamcoUS due to this communication error bug, even having bought early access and played since day -3, i have been unable to play a single online game one time! fix the damn game for gods sake this is ridiculous. (Source)

But the issues aren’t just related to matchmaking either. Some players report that certain gameplay elements are broken in online battles. For example, one individual said they can’t transform when facing someone using classic controls, while another called these bugs “very, very annoying and even game-breaking.”

Beyond that, another major complaint is that character ranks have been reset to zero. Players who’ve put hours into climbing the ladder now find their progress wiped, with some expressing their disbelief on X. A player shared their frustration: “I logged in and my account was reset to level one… lost everything I worked for.”

The patch also failed to address issues with corrupted saved data. Several players say their saves are unusable after installing the update. A user on Steam claims they managed to solve their save issue by reinstalling the game, but others weren’t so lucky: “Steam backed up my corrupted save instead 🤡” said another player.

Luckily, the devs have confirmed that they’re aware of these issues and are still working to fix them. The official Dragon Ball Games account on X acknowledged the ongoing problems:

🚨 The patch is now live! 🚨 We are aware of some remaining issues and are investigating:

  • Character rank reset to 0
  • Connection errors & online matching issues
  • Corrupted save data

We apologize to all affected players and thank you for your patience.

It’s unclear how long it’ll take for a proper fix for these three big issues to arrive. As usual, we’ll keep an eye out for any further updates and will update the article when we have something to share. Feel free to let us know if you’ve stumbled on a workaround that’ll help fellow players enjoy the game until an official fix arrives.
