Bethesda, the developer behind the popular online multiplayer game Fallout 76, has acknowledged widespread reports of severe lag when players access their Pip-Boy interface. The issue appears to have surfaced following the recent “Milepost Zero” update.

Players across multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, have reported significant frame rate drops and freezing when opening the Pip-Boy menu. This crucial interface allows players to manage inventory, check stats, and access various game functions.

“The Pip-Boy is basically useless now,” reported one Xbox player on the Fallout 76 subreddit. “It lags extremely badly almost anytime I open it. It’s really making the game unplayable for me.”

The problem seems particularly severe during busy in-game events or combat situations. Some players report dying because they’re unable to close the Pip-Boy quickly enough when attacked.

Bethesda’s community manager, Ghostly_Rich, on Reddit recently confirmed that the development team is aware of the issue and actively investigating. The company has also added the Pip-Boy lag to their list of known issues in the update’s release notes.

While some players have suggested potential workarounds, such as clearing out excess inventory items or using the HUD view instead of the full Pip-Boy interface, these solutions appear to offer limited relief at best.

Bethesda has not yet provided an estimated timeline for a fix, but the issue’s prominence and impact on gameplay suggest it may be a high priority for the development team. We’ll post an update if and when there are any further developments.
