Fortnite players on Xbox consoles are having a rough day following the new v31.20 update. Many frustrated players have taken to Reddit and X to complain about the game constantly crashing after they installed the update. In particular, players on the Xbox Series X are impacted by the faulty update.
According to reports, the issue impacts Limited Time mode and Zero Build mode too. Here are some complaints from players for reference:
Playing on xbox series x, had the game crash once in the ltm mode and twice in zero build. Overall performance felt real laggy at times and had some hitches and stutters too. Anyone else experiencing this? (Source)
I’ve crashed out of 5 ranked matches today trying to complete my storm circles. Incredibly frustrating, on Xbox series X. Update seems to have broken the game. They should compensate for this, losing rank for no reason. (Source)
Me and my friend were playing Duos and his Xbox(series X) crashed like 3 or 4 times tonight and mine crashed twice. I think this was the first time my Xbox series X has crashed since I’ve had it. (Source)
Apart from Fortnite crashing, some users also say that they’ve noticed a performance dip, which adds to the frustration. Players noted that the game crashes even after basic troubleshooting tips like restarting the console or the game.
This results in players getting kicked out of the game mid-way, negatively impacting their rank. Some are even going as far as demanding the devs to compensate them for the crashing resulting in them losing their rank points.
That said, while it’s not clear how Fortnite will compensate the players, if at all, there’ve at least confirmed that a fix for the issue is on the way. The Fortnite Status account on X posted the following statement regarding the issue:
While they haven’t provided an ETA for the patch, it’s likely that the fix will go live within the next few hours. We’ll keep tabs on the situation and will post an update once there’s something worth sharing. In other news, even Apex Legends players on PlayStation consoles are having a similar experience, with the game crashing after the latest update.
