Fortnite players are facing a frustrating issue where they can’t name or rename their locker presets, leading to a wave of complaints across social media. This problem has affected users on various platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and even the Nintendo Switch.
The issue seems to have started with the latest update. A player on PlayStation 5 reported that they could not save new presets with custom names or change existing ones. “I bought the new spider women skin today,” they shared, “but I can’t save her as a preset, and I can’t change names either.” This has been a recurring problem, with this player noting this is the second time they’ve encountered it.
They even shared a video that highlights the bug:
One workaround suggested by a user involves using a different button to save characters. “That’s not how you do it,” they explained, “there’s another button you can click to actually save your character. Those are mostly just your old ones now if you click a button on the side, I forget which one it is on your system. You can save everything so you can save the skin wrap, emotes, and vehicle.” However, another player responded, preferring to save items separately rather than in bundles, asking if this method saves everything together or separately.
The bug extends to Xbox users too. One player expressed frustration on Reddit, unable to bring up the keyboard to name new presets, leaving them stuck with default names like “preset number whatever.” Despite trying various fixes like closing and reopening the game, the problem persists across different accounts, suggesting a widespread issue.
On the Nintendo Switch, another player has found a workaround by using the touchscreen to name presets, but this isn’t an option for console players without touch capabilities. One user speculated that the problem might be due to the same button being used for both saving and editing on consoles, though this isn’t consistent across all platforms.
The community is not just upset about the naming issue but also about the lack of organization in the locker system. Players are asking for the ability to swap preset locations, highlighting how new characters are automatically placed at the bottom of the list, making them hard to access.
Epic Games has yet to acknowledge this bug officially, leaving players to their own devices for temporary fixes or workarounds. The frustration is palpable, with many hoping for a swift resolution so they can once again enjoy customizing their game experience without the hassle of unnamed presets cluttering their locker.
