Epic Games has announced the rescheduling of several tournaments due to widespread matchmaking errors. The issues have caused frustration among players and forced the developers to take swift action.
The problems first came to light during the NA Champion Kuno & Renzo the Champion FNCS Cup, where players reported difficulties queuing for matches. Epic Games quickly acknowledged the situation, stating on their official Fortnite Status X account, “We’re investigating reports that players are getting a Matchmaking Error when queuing for the current NA Champion Kuno & Renzo the Champion FNCS Cup.”
As the issues persisted, Epic made the decision to cancel the ongoing tournament and reschedule it for a later date. “We will be raining out the current results and rescheduling the NA Champion Kuno & Renzo the Champion FNCS Cup due to matchmaking errors,” the company announced in a follow-up post. They promised to provide more details on the new tournament dates later this week.
The matchmaking problems weren’t limited to the FNCS Cup. Many players reported similar issues in regular game modes, with some unable to access certain parts of the game entirely. In response, Epic Games took the precautionary step of cancelling the Cash Cups scheduled for the following day to ensure a thorough resolution of the problems.
The community’s reaction to these developments has been mixed. While some players expressed understanding, others voiced their frustration at losing progress and time invested in the tournaments. One player posted, “I only had time for one match because of the matchmaking error, you guys should’ve extended it.”
Some participants called for compensation, suggesting that Epic Games should award the tournament prizes to all players who attempted to compete. “Everyone that’s asking @FortniteGame @FortniteStatus to reschedule is just more upset about their current standings before matchmaking messed up again than it being messed up, there just needs to be compensation,” one user commented.
Epic Games has also assured players that those who earned the Kuno & Renzo Outfit rewards will receive them with the v31.10 game update. However, this has done little to appease players who were aiming for other prizes, particularly the coveted pickaxe reward.
As usual, we’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will update the article accordingly. In the meantime, we’d also suggest following the Fortnite Status account on X for the latest official information.
