Hulu users are frustrated over a bug that causes ads to freeze, interrupting their shows and forcing them to restart the app or their devices. Complaints have flooded X and Reddit, with many saying the issue makes it nearly impossible to watch anything without constant interruptions.

The problem seems to affect a variety of ads, with viewers frequently mentioning issues with an American Express commercial. On Reddit, one user shared that every time the ad appeared, their app crashed, leaving them stuck in an endless loop. Another said the ad timer would freeze, leaving the screen black and forcing them to reboot their TV. Based on the complaints, it seems the issue spans across devices like Firesticks, gaming consoles, and smart TVs.

Responding to a complaint on X, Hulu’s support team confirmed that they are “currently investigating” the bug.

Some users have attempted workarounds, like skipping past ad breaks or rewinding, but these often come with new problems. “Rebooting was my first step, but it didn’t work,” one commenter shared, voicing the same complaints as everyone else.

For some, this isn’t a new problem. Multiple users noted similar issues with Hulu ads in the past, calling it a recurring problem that disrupts their streaming experience. A few have even switched to alternative apps, like the Disney+/Hulu bundle.

While the company says it’s looking into the problem, they’ve not provided an ETA for the fix. So affected users might have to deal with the issue for a little longer.
