Over the past few days, some Instagram users have been reporting that they’re unable to post on the platform as they keep getting a “Something went wrong error” while the post is being uploaded. In particular, users say that when they try uploading carousel posts with videos, they get the following error “Something went wrong. Please try again later.”

Most users who’ve encountered the problem also claim that the error persists even after they perform the usual troubleshooting steps like clearing the cache and even reinstalling Instagram. Some users report that they can post successfully on one account but not on another, even with the exact same files. A user claimed they tried using an older account with no previous posts and managed to upload a mix of photos and videos without a hitch. This inconsistency has left users scratching their heads and refreshing the app, hoping for a fix.

I tried testing this on my Instagram account but could not replicate the problem. This indicates that the issue is affecting only a certain number of accounts for no obvious reason. Look, Instagram is no stranger to serving up those “Something went wrong” errors. We already have a detailed post on the problem, however, this issue doesn’t seem to be related to errors users get randomly.

Some users speculate that it has to do with Instagram’s recent update, which increased the number of media files allowed in a single post from 10 to 20. While this new limit was supposed to make sharing even more seamless, it seems to have inadvertently introduced a bug.

Instagram is yet to acknowledge the error so it’s likely that affected users will have to wait for a bit until a fix rolls out. Since the problem seems to be triggered by a server-side bug, it should be an easy fix, if Instagram’s aware of the bug in the first place.

Until then, users are anxiously waiting and hoping that their favorite way of sharing memories won’t be interrupted for much longer. If you’re one of those affected, it may be best to steer clear of videos in your carousel posts for now — or consider keeping your updates to single media posts until Instagram sorts things out.
