Old School RuneScape (OSRS) players on iOS are frustrated by a persistent crash issue. Reports have flooded X and Reddit, with users saying the app crashes repeatedly, often during login attempts. Jagex has acknowledged the problem and confirmed they are investigating.

On X, one user shared their struggle: “Why does your Old School RuneScape iOS keep crashing when I try to log in? It’s super frustrating.” Jagex Support replied, suggesting mobile troubleshooting steps while promising a thorough investigation.

There are several posts about the problem over on Reddit too. Many users describe similar problems, with some noting the app crashes as soon as they log in. Others mention managing to get in after several attempts, only for the issue to return later. Reinstalling the app seems to work for some, but the fix is often temporary.

Another concern raised is related to iOS 18.2. Players report that the “Game Mode” feature, which optimizes battery and performance for games, is no longer activating for OSRS. This has led to faster battery drain and phones overheating. Some wonder if this is connected to the crashing problem. One individual even shared a screen-recording for reference:

One Redditor summed it up: “The mobile app has been having bad stability issues for a lot of folks this past month. Reinstalling seems to be the general fix, albeit a temporary one.”

Jagex has not yet provided a timeline for a fix. For now, they recommend basic troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the app or restarting devices. While this helps some players, others are left waiting for a more permanent solution.

We’ll keep tabs on the situation and will update the article if there’s something new to share. In the meantime, check the App Store for any updates that might carry a fix for the problem.
