Motorola Edge 50 Pro users have been plagued by camera issues since the phone’s April 2024 release. Overheating during video recording, lag during 4K video capture, and frame drops in the resulting footage have frustrated many who chose the phone for its impressive camera specs.
The Edge 50 Pro boasts a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens on the back while the selfie shooter is a 50MP sensor. Both ends are capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. This powerful camera setup promised stunning photos and videos, making it a major selling point for photography enthusiasts.
However, the reality hasn’t lived up to the hype. For weeks on, disgruntled Moto Edge 50 Pro owners have flooded Motorola’s forums with complaints, seeking solutions for the persistent problems. While Motorola support has acknowledged the issues on multiple occasions, a fix remains elusive. And with more people buying the phone, reports will keep coming in until Motorola fully addresses the issues.
In a recent forum response, a Moto Agent offered a bizarre workaround: “We’ve shared it with our team and the workaround is to not use 4K video capture until the future update that has the improvement for this.”

While this might be the only solution for now, it won’t go down well with those who specifically purchased the Edge 50 Pro for its 4K video recording and other camera capabilities. Being advised not to utilize a feature that influenced your decision to buy a device isn’t exactly what anyone wants. They’ll be justified to feel misled and disappointed, but there isn’t much they can do other than wait for Motorola to roll out a fix for the 4K video capture and other camera issues affecting the Moto Edge 50 Pro.
The lack of a timely and effective solution is something Motorola will have to improve on. Some users have been grappling with these issues for weeks, with Motorola’s only offering being a promise for future improvements. There’s no doubt Motorola makes great hardware, but software is something they still need to address. The lack of a timeline for a fix further exacerbates the frustration. Motorola has not provided any indication of when users can expect a software update to resolve the camera problems.
As more reports continue to surface, Motorola will feel the heat to deliver a solution much sooner. Until then, Edge 50 Pro users will either have to endure the camera issues or avoid using the phone’s 4K video capabilities altogether.
