Ring has quietly updated its subscription transition timeline, pushing back the previously announced March 1, 2025, date to April 9, 2025. This change affects users currently subscribed to the Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen) plan, who will now have an extra month before they are automatically migrated to the new Ring Home subscription plans.

Ring initially informed users that their subscriptions would shift to new plans under the Ring Home branding starting March 1, 2025. However, an updated support page now reflects an April 9, 2025, start date for this transition. The key details remain mostly unchanged, but the extra time has left some users confused about what this means for them.

For those with a Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro, the upcoming changes mean a significant price increase. After April 8, 2025, their subscription will automatically transition to the Ring Home Standard with Alarm Professional Monitoring plan. The cost will jump from $10 per month to $19.99 per month or from $100 per year to $199.99 per year.

Users who do not wish to pay the increased price have the option to remove Alarm Professional Monitoring before renewal. This can be done using the simple steps below:

Subscribers who do not own a Ring Alarm device will see their plans transition to the Ring Home Standard plan at their first renewal after April 8, 2025. While there will be no price increase, the Alarm Professional Monitoring feature, including SOS Emergency Response, will no longer be included in their plan.

Virtual Security Guard subscribers will also be transitioned to the Ring Home Standard plan with no price increase. However, Alarm Professional Monitoring and SOS Emergency Response will no longer be bundled into this plan. Users who subscribe to Virtual Security Guard will still have access to these features as part of their separate monthly bill.

Ring has not provided an official reason for postponing the transition date. However, it’s possible the company is refining the migration process or responding to user feedback regarding the change. Regardless of the reason, affected users now have more time to review their subscription options and decide whether to keep Alarm Professional Monitoring or opt out before renewal.

If you’re currently subscribed to Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen) and want to maintain your current pricing without Alarm Professional Monitoring, you should take action before your renewal date. Otherwise, your plan will automatically transition to the new structure after April 8, 2025.
