Players of the popular roguelike shooter Risk of Rain 2 are facing frustration as a new bug leaves Xbox players unable to start the game. The issue, which coincides with the release of the game’s latest DLC “Seekers of the Storm,” has left many unable to progress past the main menu screen.
Gearbox, the game’s publisher, acknowledged the problem on social media, stating, “We are aware of reports of Xbox users having issues getting into the game. The team is currently investigating.” This statement came after numerous players took to online forums to report the glitch.
The bug appears to be affecting both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Some users have reported that attempting workarounds, such as reinstalling the game or performing a hard reset on their console, has not resolved the issue. More alarmingly, there are reports that certain attempts to bypass the glitch by creating new accounts have resulted in players losing their save files.
“Seekers of the Storm,” the second DLC expansion for Risk of Rain 2, launched with much anticipation. Priced at $14.99, it promises new survivors, items, stages, and challenges for players to tackle. However, the excitement has been dampened by these technical difficulties.
While Xbox players grapple with the menu bug, it seems PlayStation 5 users aren’t faring much better. Reports indicate that the PS5 version of the game is also experiencing significant issues, with some describing it as “literally unplayable.”
Gearbox has yet to provide an estimated timeline for a fix, leaving players in limbo. Some are even considering seeking refunds for their DLC purchases. That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and will post an update if and when there’s any noteworthy development.
