Sims 4 players are facing an unexpected beauty mishap following the game’s latest update. Custom content (CC) eyelashes are reportedly glitching, leaving Sims with oddly floating lashes that don’t fit properly on their eyes. This cosmetic catastrophe has left many virtual fashionistas in dismay, unable to achieve their desired looks.

The issue seems to have cropped up immediately after the August 8, 2024 update (version 1.108.349.1020 for PC and 1.108.349.1220 for Mac). Players who were enjoying the game with their CC eyelashes just fine before the update suddenly found their Sims sporting some seriously misplaced makeup.

“It JUST happened after the newest update because I was playing a bit before and it was fine then,” one frustrated player reported on a Sims 4 forum. The problem appears to be widespread, affecting various CC eyelashes from different creators, regardless of their category or origin. Here’s a screenshot shared by a player for reference:

The glitch seems to be linked to changes made in the update to fix issues with glasses, which may have inadvertently affected how CC eyelashes interact with Sim models. Interestingly, the bug only impacts alpha CC lashes, while Maxis match lashes remain unaffected. This distinction has left some players scrambling to find alternative options for their Sims’ eye makeup.

For now, there’s no quick fix available. Players hoping for a solution may need to wait for CC creators to update their eyelash mods. In the meantime, some Simmers are choosing to remove their CC eyelashes or hold off on updating their game to avoid the issue altogether.

“I am so upset this has happened and I wish I had stopped the update,” lamented one player. “I refuse to remove my CC but I can’t play the game like this. It’s too weird and unnatural looking.”

The community has been quick to offer potential workarounds and troubleshooting steps. Some moderators suggest using the “Better Exceptions” mod, trying the 50/50 method to identify conflicting mods, or deleting the game cache and repairing the installation. However, these steps seem to be more precautionary measures rather than definitive solutions.

While the Sims team hasn’t officially addressed the issue yet, the community is hopeful for a resolution soon. Many players are eagerly awaiting updates from popular CC creators, particularly those specializing in eyelashes like Kijiko, whose lashes are widely used among Simmers.

As usual, we’ll keep tabs on the situation and will post an update if and when there are any developments. In the meantime, if you’ve figured out a solution, feel free to share it in the comments section below. Until a solution is found, it looks like Sims might have to bat their glitchy lashes for a little while longer.
