Some X users spot a strange new desktop UI

Something strange is happening on X, and it’s got users scratching their heads. Reports have been coming in about a new desktop user interface (UI) that seems to have removed labels from the icons on the left-hand side and pushed the “Search” and “What’s happening” sections off the right-hand side of the screen towards the middle. And it’s not just me seeing the randomness. Some users have noted that it only affects one of their accounts, while others mentioned that the layout changed abruptly while they were browsing, adding to the confusion.

Notably, X officially announced that the changes are part of a new UI they are actively testing. According to their statement, X is seeking feedback on these “much needed + long overdue” visual updates to the platform. Unsurprisingly, the reception to this possible update has been less than enthusiastic. Users have expressed frustration with the changes, questioning the design choices.
