In a heartfelt letter to Sonos users, CEO Patrick Spence didn’t shy away from the challenges the company’s new app has faced since its rocky rollout on May 7. “We’ve let you down, and that hurts us too,” Spence admitted, setting the tone for a sincere apology and a clear roadmap for improvement.

Since May, Sonos has been on a mission to patch up their app woes, rolling out updates every two weeks like clockwork. These updates have brought meaningful improvements, but Spence acknowledged there’s still more work to be done. So, what’s next on Sonos’ agenda?

July and August: stabilizing the ship

First up, Sonos is zeroing in on stability. Adding new products to the app has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but the company is determined to smooth things out. They’re also tackling local Music Library issues, making it easier for users to configure, browse, search, and play their favorite tunes without hiccups.

August and September: volume and interface tweaks

In August and September, Sonos plans to make volume controls snappier and more responsive. No more wrestling with your phone to adjust the sound. They’re also listening to user feedback to refine the interface, making the app more intuitive and user-friendly. Overall system stability and error handling are getting some much-needed TLC too.

September and October: alarm and playlist enhancements

Come September, Sonos will turn its attention to alarms. If you’ve been frustrated by inconsistent wake-up calls, relief is on the way. September and October will see the return of the much-missed edit mode for playlists and the queue, along with improvements to app settings.

Spence promised that bi-weekly updates will keep rolling out, with detailed release notes to keep users in the loop. From the look of it, the company is dedicated to regaining customer trust and delivering the stellar experience fans expect.

In a final touch of accessibility, Spence encouraged users to share their thoughts directly with him via email at [email protected]. It’s clear that Sonos is all ears when it comes to user feedback, so hang tight, better days (and updates) are on the horizon.
