Sonos looking into alarms going off at wrong time and podcast playback issues

Sonos users are reporting two issues with the recent versions of the app where alarms are going off at incorrect times and the forward/backward buttons in podcasts are missing. These problems have sparked frustration among users, who have taken to Reddit and Sonos forums to voice their concerns. Luckily, a Sonos staff member has acknowledged these issues and assured users that fixes are on the way.

Some Sonos users have taken to community forums and Reddit to express their frustration with the alarm feature. After the app update on May 21, 2024, alarms either disappeared or began going off at the wrong times. This issue persists even with the most recent update from early this month.

The issue seems to stem from the app defaulting to the GMT time zone if time zone information is not specified. A Sonos employee addressed this on Reddit, stating, “The team is aware of this and actively working on it. No hard date yet, this is ‘in the oven’. Stay tuned.”

In addition to alarm issues, some Sonos users have also reported the removal of the forward and back buttons for podcasts in the latest app update. This makes it impossible to scrub through podcasts or skip segments easily. Luckily, the staff member also confirmed that this issue is “on the radar” and a fix is in the works, but again, no concrete timeline was provided.

These issues have compounded the backlash Sonos has faced following the recent app redesign, which removed or altered several features. While the company has acknowledged the feedback and is even rolling out improvements, the ongoing problems with alarms and podcast playback may fuel further user dissatisfaction.

The lack of clear timelines for resolving these issues adds to the frustration, but the good thing is Sonos has assured users that they are actively working on fixes.
