Strava is facing backlash from users after a bug in its Apple Watch app began disrupting workouts. Many users report that the app closes mid-activity, causing timers to restart or lose several minutes of recorded data. The issue seems to have started a few weeks ago, with no clear fix in sight.

Users on Strava’s community forums have shared their frustrations. One person noted that during weight training, the app sometimes restarts, while another reported losing up to 20 minutes of a workout session. Others mentioned similar issues with activities like running and CrossFit, with some saying heart rate data and workout durations were inaccurately recorded.

Strava has acknowledged the problem and is investigating. A community manager recommended using the Apple Watch’s native Workout app as a workaround. While this option syncs activities back to Strava, it lacks some of the app’s signature features, such as live segments.

However, this suggestion hasn’t gone over well with everyone. A few users pointed out that Strava’s workaround effectively directs paying customers to competitors’ apps. One frustrated user wrote, “Suggesting your paying customers use a competitor’s app makes people question why they use Strava at all.” Another added that the delay in fixing such a major bug damages trust.

Some have tried troubleshooting on their own by reinstalling the app, resetting their devices, or enabling low-power mode during workouts. While these steps helped in a few cases, most users say the issue persists.

Even though the problem was acknowledged a month ago, there are still no signs of a fix as the thread has fresh reports from hours ago. We’ll keep track of the situation and will update the article if and when there are any further developments.
