Elon Musk’s Grok 3 has been out for a while now but xAI clearly labeled it as a “beta” model, indicating that it’s still not fully ready. However, it seems the team’s now confident enough to drop the “beta” tag from Grok 3, at least on the iOS app.

A couple of users took to Reddit to post about their observation where the Grok app on iOS no longer shows the “beta” tag besides the Grok 3 model. In my testing, I noticed the same. The “beta” tag has been dropped and it just says Grok 3.

But the whole situation is a bit confusing. Upon checking the Grok app on Android, Grok 3 still retains the “beta” tag. Furthermore, even on the web version it’s labeled as being in beta. This makes me wonder if the missing “beta” tag on the iOS app is unintended or xAI will be ditching the “beta” tag for Grok 3 on all platforms.

The “beta” label was a heads-up that it wasn’t fully polished yet. Seeing it drop on iOS could mean xAI is feeling good about its progress. Maybe they’re testing the waters with Apple users first before rolling it out everywhere.

Still, the mixed signals are hard to ignore. If Grok 3 is out of beta on iOS, why not update Android and the web too? It’s possible they’re taking it slow, gauging how it performs without the “beta” safety net. Or it could just be a glitch, as mentioned above.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this one. If you’re on iOS, give Grok 3 a spin and see what you think.
