Instagram recently rolled out new fonts for Stories and Reels to spice things up. But at the same time, some Instagram users are also facing a reel-y big problem where they can’t pin or unpin their favorite Reels to the top of their profile. Reels are a handy way for users to showcase their best work, but it has suddenly stopped working for some.

Since June 2022, Instagram allowed users to pin up to three posts or Reels to the top of their profiles, giving them prime real estate on their grid. It is a neat way to showcase your best content, but now, that feature seems to have taken an unexpected vacation.

Over the past few days, reports have popped up from Instagram users who suddenly found their pinned Reels unpinned, with no way to get them back in place. Attempts to re-pin the content result in a message saying the Reel is pinned, but a quick glance at the profile shows otherwise — nothing’s there. For those who rely on this feature to highlight their top-performing videos, it’s been a particularly nerve-wracking experience, perhaps up there with the recent removal of timestamps from posts.

The glitch doesn’t seem to affect pinned grid posts, which continue to hold their spots at the top of profiles. But for Reels, it’s a different story. Users have tried everything from clearing cache to logging in and out, even deleting and reinstalling the app, but nothing seems to fix the issue.

So far, Instagram hasn’t acknowledged the problem. While most glitches like this are usually resolved within a few hours, this one has lingered for over two days, sparking concern that it might be more than just a temporary bug.

For now, all we can do is wait and hope that Instagram gets its act together and re-pins those Reels where they belong. Until then, keep an eye on your profile — who knows, maybe everything will be back to normal by the end of the day. After all, every reel deserves its moment in the spotlight.
