Can't switch Instagram accounts? Here're some workarounds

Wondering why “Instagram is not letting me switch accounts”? Well, you may not be alone. I am seeing many such reports today, and given the increasing nature of these reports, it looks like a system level glitch at the moment. And is mostly affecting iOS users.

However, if you have come here to find workarounds for this issue, I have collected a few. Please note that these are user-shared workarounds, and I haven’t tested any of them personally. Here you go:

The first workaround was posted by a user on Reddit, and was confirmed by at least two other users:

My temporary solution has been to DM one from the other, then click on the notification banner when the DM comes through and it automatically logs me into the other. (Source)

The other two workarounds were also posted on Reddit, and as of writing, both have at least one upvote each.

Seems like if you delete the app and reinstall, it will fix the issue and allow you to switch accounts again. (Source)

The only way I can switch between accounts is if I get a notification on the one I’m not using and click on it. (Source)

Needless to say, these are only temporary workarounds, and may not work for all users. Although I really hope at least one of them works for whosoever lands on this article. Also, do keep in mind that this may not always be an Instagram problem. So do ensure that you are switching your Instagram accounts using the officially recommended steps.

As for what happened today, as I said in the beginning, it appears to be a system-level glitch on Instagram’s end, as reports indicate the option to switch accounts suddenly disappeared for many users. Here are some reports:

As you can see from the tweet above, some people even experienced an Instagram outage at their end.
