Discord keeps switching my status to do not disturb by itself.

Many Discord users seem to be encountering a frustrating bug over the past few days. Reports online suggest that whenever users tweak their custom status, online status, volume controls, and other settings, they revert to the previous states within seconds of being changed.
The bug has gained traction on Reddit’s r/discordapp community where multiple threads have appeared documenting the same frustrating experience. Users attempting to change their custom status, adjust voice chat volume, or modify other Discord settings find that any changes immediately snap back to their previous state. Someone even shared a screen recording highlighting the problem.
“I can’t change my custom status and I don’t know why,” Reddit user itsthe_soph wrote. “If I go through the steps either to clear it or to put a new one and press save, the new one will show for a split second before returning to the previous one.”
The issue seems to persist across multiple devices and platforms. Users report that even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app, logging out of all devices, or using Discord in a browser, the problem continues. The bug manifests in different ways for different users. Some are stuck on “Do Not Disturb” status while others can’t change from “Invisible” or “Idle.” Some users can’t adjust voice chat volumes at all, while others find their volume controls automatically reverting to muted.
“It’s infuriating,” commented Reddit user vGomezy. “I’m perma appearing offline, I can’t change the volume on people, if I’m watching a stream on Discord the volume is always the same, can’t go lower or higher, can’t mute/deafen. All settings perma the same as before. I’ve tried to reinstall with no fix.”
One user, IrateSteelix, claims that Discord is apparently aware of the problem, stating, “Discord are aware of the issue and are working on fixing it! No ETA on a fix though.”
Some users have discovered a temporary workaround by using a VPN. Reddit user Carpy_Diem shared: “Have been able to change settings by VPNing to another location, changing setting with my VPN active, then switching it off again. Not ideal, but support say they are aware of the issue at least.” Multiple users have confirmed this solution works.
That said, this isn’t the only recent hiccup Discord users have had to deal with. Last month, many users were unable to revert to the old Discord UI after the “Visual Refresh” experiment was removed, though a potential workaround was discovered. And just days ago, Shapes Inc called Discord’s action unfair after being removed from the platform’s reactions feature.
While waiting for an official fix, Discord users affected by this bug are left with limited options – either use a VPN to temporarily change settings or simply wait it out until Discord resolves the issue server-side.
