Discord users are getting a fresh way to show off their gaming credentials with Profile Widgets, a new feature that’s currently making its way to desktop users. The platform is testing this customization option with Marvel Rivals as its first supported title, letting players display their in-game stats directly on their profiles.
When you link your Marvel Rivals account, the widget pulls in your competitive rank, highest achieved rank, and even shows which character you main. It’s opt-in by default, so nobody’s getting their stats broadcast without permission. The widget appears in your profile’s Activity tab, and you can manage it through the Widgets section in your settings.
Interestingly, it seems like this isn’t Discord’s first attempt at rolling out Profile Widgets. I spotted a Reddit thread from September, noting that the feature accidentally went live for everyone before getting pulled back. One user described it as “the schizophrenia update” when it suddenly vanished, leaving people wondering if they’d imagined the whole thing. Turns out Discord had triggered an override that unlocked the feature prematurely.
Now the feature is back with a proper gradual rollout. Discord confirmed in their official FAQ that only a limited number of users currently have access to the Marvel Rivals stats widget.
The company is using A/B testing to slowly expand availability, which explains why some players are seeing it while their friends aren’t. You’ll need to have your Marvel Rivals account linked to Discord for the widget to show up as an option.
Beyond the stats widget, Discord is testing several other widget types. These include options for showcasing your favorite game with a description, displaying up to five games you’re currently rotating through, listing 20 titles on your wishlist, and highlighting games from your history. The catch? These broader widget options only support games in Discord’s database, which the company admits is still growing.
Right now, widgets only work on desktop and browser versions of Discord. Mobile users won’t see them at all, whether viewing their own profile or checking out someone else’s.
It seems users are pretty excited for the feature, with many hoping Discord expands support to other popular titles like Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket League, and even MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV. Whether Discord can convince more game developers to integrate remains to be seen, but Marvel Rivals players are already enjoying their new bragging rights.
