There's something seriously wrong with my Duolingo after the latest update on Android 😭

It seems many Duolingo users with Samsung devices are running into a weird issue with the app. Across social media and forums, people are complaining about flickering animations, visual glitches, and a user interface that’s acting up.
According to reports, the app displays visual artifacts, random flashing, and broken interface elements that make navigation difficult. Some users describe the glitches as severe enough to prevent them from completing lessons entirely. Multiple users have even shared recordings and screenshots of the issue. I’ve added a couple of them below for reference:
The problem appears to specifically affect Samsung Galaxy devices that have updated to One UI 7, Samsung’s latest Android skin. Users with Galaxy A55, A56, and other models have confirmed experiencing the same flickering and visual corruption. Interestingly, users still running One UI 6.1 report no issues with the same Duolingo app version.
People have tried the usual tricks — clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, restarting their phones — but nothing seems to fix it. That’s led some to guess the problem runs deeper, maybe tied to how Duolingo meshes with One UI 7’s changes.
The timing suggests this isn’t purely a One UI 7 issue. While some users initially suspected Samsung’s latest update, evidence points to a recent Duolingo app update as the trigger. Users who had been running One UI 7 for weeks without problems only started experiencing glitches after Duolingo’s maintenance period and subsequent app update.

Brazilian Samsung community forums show similar complaints, with users reporting the same visual corruption across different Galaxy models. The issue has prompted some long-term users to consider abandoning the platform entirely, despite maintaining streaks of over 1,000 days.
Neither Duolingo nor Samsung has officially acknowledged the widespread compatibility problem. Affected users who contacted Duolingo support report receiving only automated responses acknowledging their bug reports without providing solutions or timelines for fixes.
The glitches remain isolated to the Duolingo app, with users reporting normal functionality across other applications on their One UI 7 devices. This suggests the issue requires a targeted fix from Duolingo’s development team to address whatever rendering conflicts exist with Samsung’s latest interface update.
For now, affected users face the choice of either tolerating the visual disruption or using Duolingo’s web version until a proper fix arrives.
