Many Escape from Tarkov players have been facing issues with the game for several hours. Reports suggest that a recurring “1000-backend error” is making the game nearly unplayable. Frustrated players have flooded Reddit and X with many venting about constant crashes, failed game launches, and endless error messages.
The problem appears to have escalated after the most recent update. While some players can still get through after a bit of luck or persistence, others are stuck staring at error screens. For many, even clearing the game’s cache or verifying the game files — standard troubleshooting steps — only offers a temporary fix.
One Reddit user shared their struggles: “Cleared logs, verified integrity. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.” Another player posted, “I can’t even make it to the main menu. It crashes and boots me out completely.”
Some players have managed to play sporadically, but the error often returns after finishing a raid. A user summed up the frustration saying: “It does it to me 2/3 of the time when opening the game, and 100% of the time after a raid.”
The issue isn’t consistent across the board, which has only added to the confusion. While some report frequent errors, others claim to have avoided the issue entirely. One player noted, “25+ raids and not a single error,” leaving them puzzled as to why others are so heavily affected.
On X, the complaints are just as loud. One user wrote, “Keep getting the 1000 – backend error on tarkov and can’t play the game bro wtf” Another demanded a fix from the game’s developers at Battlestate Games, posting, “Fix your backend error 1000!”
Some speculate the issue is server-related, but Battlestate Games has remained silent so far. Without official communication or a permanent fix, players are left to rely on temporary workarounds, such as clearing the cache through the game’s launcher. While this has worked for a few, others say the error returns almost immediately.
The timing couldn’t be worse. Escape from Tarkov recently launched an in-game event, which may be contributing to the server strain. However, players are losing patience with the repeated technical problems. One player joked, “You’d think after 8 years this game would be playable, but nooooooo.”
That said, granted the bug seems to be a server-side problem, it’s likely it’ll be fixed within the next few hours if it hasn’t yet been already by the time you read the article. Feel free to drop a comment below letting us know if you’re still facing the problem.
