Fitbit has confirmed that the ability to call and message friends and family members directly from the Fitbit Ace LTE watch and Fitbit Ace app is on the horizon. This feature will first be tested by a select group of advisor families before becoming widely available in a future software update.

The Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch is designed to keep kids active and connected while providing parents with peace of mind. Since its unveiling in late May, the Fitbit Ace LTE has garnered attention for its innovative blend of exercise, play, and family safety features. However, the official support page says the Fitbit Ace LTE currently only allows kids to call and message parents and up to 20 contacts but does not support communication between friends and siblings.

This limitation has been a point of contention for some users. However, Fitbit has revealed that this is about to change. In response to user inquiries, a member of the Fitbit Ace LTE team confirmed that they are actively working on enabling communication between kids’ devices.

This new feature will be thoroughly tested by a select group of advisor families before being rolled out to the wider user base. Fitbit aims to ensure the feature’s reliability and effectiveness through this testing phase. Once cleared, the feature will be included in an upcoming software update, enhancing the device’s functionality.

Importantly, the update will not only enable Ace LTE to Ace LTE communication, but will also extend this functionality to family members using the Fitbit Ace app. This means that children will soon be able to connect with siblings, friends, and extended family members, fostering a sense of independence and connection while providing parents with peace of mind.

We’re working on both! Ace LTE to Ace LTE communication and for family members with the Ace app.

The Fitbit Ace LTE boasts a unique approach to motivating kids through movement-based games, customizable virtual pets, and collectible bands that unlock additional content. These features, combined with robust safety measures and parental controls, make it a great choice for families.

Parents can track their child’s real-time location, manage contacts, and control settings such as School Time to minimize distractions during class. The forthcoming communication update will further strengthen the bond between kids and their families, allowing for more seamless and interactive connections.

This development is particularly significant for families who purchased the Fitbit Ace LTE when it was first unveiled, as it expands the device’s capabilities and opens up new possibilities for communication and connection. With the added ability to call and message friends and siblings directly, the Fitbit Ace LTE is poised to become an even more valuable tool for keeping children active, engaged, and connected in a safe and responsible way.
