Fitbit users have been reporting several issues with the popular fitness tracking platform, ranging from inaccurate calorie estimates to problems with editing and displaying exercise data. The company has acknowledged these bugs and is working on fixes, according to community moderators and product experts on the Fitbit forums.
One of the most prominent issues involves incorrect calorie estimates for various activities. A user reported that their regular 1km swim, which typically burned around 259 calories, suddenly showed only 44 calories burned. A Fitbit product expert, confirmed that “There’s a bug affecting calorie tracking. The issue has been escalated and the team is working on a fix.”
Another widespread problem relates to editing and displaying exercise data. Multiple users have complained about the inability to edit automatically tracked activities or manually logged exercises. When attempting to make changes, such as correcting an activity type or adding distance information, the edits fail to save or revert to the original data.
The exercise display issue seems to be particularly affecting users of older Fitbit models, such as the Fitbit One. Some users report that their exercise history has disappeared from the app, with data missing for up to a week. This problem appears to be intermittent, with data sometimes reappearing before vanishing again.
Fitbit’s team is aware of these issues and is actively working on solutions. A Fitbit moderator stated, “Our engineers are aware of the issue, and they’re working on a fix.” However, no specific timeline for the fixes has been provided.
The problems seem to have started around late August or early September, coinciding with recent app updates. Both iOS and Android users have reported experiencing these bugs.
While Fitbit works on resolving these issues, you might just have to be patient and continue using your device as normal. The underlying data appears to be intact in most cases, suggesting that the problems are primarily related to data display and editing within the app.
