It seems many Fitbit users are experiencing a frustrating bug that practically renders the app almost useless. Users have been complaining that their Food Log feature just stopped working properly.
The problem? Users can’t search for new food items or scan barcodes. That’s a pretty big deal when you’re trying to track what you ate for dinner. The search function comes up blank, and when people try scanning product barcodes, they get hit with a “fitbit.com is down for maintenance” message.
Reports started flooding in yesterday from users around the world. One user on the Fitbit community mentioned that they could log breakfast and lunch just fine, but by dinner time, nothing worked.
So essentially, the app still lets you access recently used foods and your frequent items list, but that’s it. Want to log something new? You’re out of luck.
People tried everything. Force stopping the app, clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data. Nothing worked. A few users even went through the trouble of restarting their phones multiple times. Still broken.
A community moderator confirmed they’re aware of the issue and working on a fix. They suggested the usual troubleshooting steps (logging out, force quitting, rebooting your phone), but users who’d already tried these reported back that the problem persisted. It’s clearly something on Fitbit’s end, not a local device issue.
Reddit users chimed in too, with one noting that status.fitbit.com showed no incidents even though the service was obviously having problems.
Another pointed out that the barcode scan button wasn’t even showing up anymore. Some people managed to get by creating custom food entries manually, but that’s a hassle when you’re just trying to quickly log your meals.
The bug affects both Android and iOS users across multiple devices. People with Pixel 8 Pro phones, Samsung Galaxy devices, and various Fitbit trackers like the Charge 6 all reported the same problem.
Fitbit hasn’t given a timeline for the fix yet, but users are crossing their fingers that it’ll be sorted out soon. For now, if you’ve been using Fitbit to count calories, you might want to dig through your recent foods list or create custom entries until the team gets this sorted.
