It seems many Fibit users with Android devices are noticing a persistent and seemingly unremovable prompt for “Fitbit Labs” that has taken up permanent residence on their app’s main dashboard. The nagging box appears right alongside daily fitness goals and refuses to disappear even when users tap “No thanks” or toggle Labs off in settings.

The issue first surfaced in late May when several Android users running Fitbit app version 4.43.1 noticed the prompt popping up on their dashboard. Tapping “Get started” brings up the usual opt-in screen with options to join the waitlist or decline. But once dismissed, the banner stays glued in place. Users have tried clearing app data, reinstalling the Fitbit app, and even switching off data sharing for research. None of it has worked.

Community forums and subreddits quickly filled with complaints. One frustrated member wrote that the nag screen has taken over the spot where their cardio target should be. They said it has been there for days and that nothing they tried helped. Another user shared a screenshot on Reddit and noted that tapping “No thanks” simply closes the prompt only for it to return on the next app launch.

Fitbit’s community moderators have responded to the numerous complaints. In a recent post, a moderator said, “I’ll pass the info to our team, so that they continue looking into this and working on a solution. Please be assured that they are working hard to bring you all back on track as soon as possible.”

The glitch comes just weeks after Fitbit rolled out AI-powered features in Labs, including a Medical Record Navigator that summarizes lab reports and a Symptom Checker that offers health insights. Those features remain limited to select testers but have garnered attention for their promise to make complex health data more accessible.

While Labs itself is still in testing, the bug has put unwanted focus on its trial run. Users who have no interest in sharing their lab results with Google, which owns Fitbit, are especially irked by the forced prompt. Some have warned they’ll consider switching to another tracker if the issue drags on.

Fitbit has not shared a timeline for a fix, but users are encouraged to check for app updates in the Google Play Store. For now, the only workaround appears to be putting up with an extra banner on the home screen. As usual, we’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will post an update if and when there are any further developments.
