Fitbit users in countries like the UK and Ireland are frustrated after a recent update introduced a bug that forces manual weight entries to be made in pounds, even when the app is set to display weight in stones and pounds. Several users have reported the issue on Fitbit’s community forums, with complaints about the inconvenience and incorrect conversions in the app.

One user shared their struggle with the change. “I can only input my weight in pounds now, whereas I usually put in stones and pounds,” they explained, adding that even after manually converting their weight to pounds, the app displayed inaccurate values when switching back to stones. Another user pointed out, “It stated 11 stone 1lbs, so I put in 154lbs, then it converted it into 10 stone 14lbs… There is no 10 stone 14lbs… It’s 11 stone!”

The bug appears to affect Android users primarily, though reports suggest it impacts some Fitbit smart scales like the Aria as well. This has rendered the scales less functional, as they fail to populate weight fields correctly in the app. Users attempting workarounds, such as reinstalling the app, resetting devices, or changing units to kilograms, have found no resolution.

Fitbit’s support staff have acknowledged the problem, calling it an app bug that requires a future update to fix. However, many users feel left in the dark about when a solution will arrive. Some speculate the issue could stem from Fitbit’s transition to Google’s ecosystem, with one user venting, “This is the problem with US goods—they’re only tested for the US and on Apple devices.”

While Fitbit has yet to provide a timeline for a fix, affected users are left calculating conversions manually or using alternative methods to log their weight. For now, we can only hope that a fix arrives soon, restoring the seamless experience. Until then, users will have to deal with the hassle of Google searches and makeshift math to get their weight correct.
