Problems with the camera

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is one of the most premium Android smartphones on the market, but it seems the device might have a major flaw. Some users are running into problems with the camera, especially when they switch to the 0.6x ultra-wide lens. Reports of a rattling noise and trouble focusing are popping up online, and it’s got people talking on forums like the S25Ultra subreddit.
Users describe scenarios where switching to the ultra-wide setting triggers the problem. Reddit user bjarteru posted about their experience, asking, “When i am trying to zoom under 1x the camera goes crazy. You can hear an feel some vibration from the camera and you can see the vibrations in the camera app. Not beeing able to get focus.” They later confirmed that basic troubleshooting like clearing the camera app’s cache didn’t resolve it.
Another user, Active-Parsley-2260, shared a similar issue, noting it doesn’t always happen but requires shaking the phone to temporarily fix it. They mentioned trying cache clearing and even a full reset, which only slightly lessened the occurrence.
While some initially hoped for a software bug, particularly as a few users noted the problem starting after an update, evidence increasingly points towards a hardware fault. The physical vibration and rattling sound strongly suggest an issue with the camera’s stabilization mechanism, likely the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). User bjarteru eventually had to send their phone for service, reporting back that “Samsung Said it was a hardware issue” and that the service center replaced the camera modules to fix the problem.
Camera glitches aren’t exactly new territory for smartphones. Older Galaxy models like the S23 Ultra had their share of hardware hiccups, often tied to the main sensor. Back then, Samsung stepped in with repairs or replacements. Other brands, like Apple and Google, have faced similar headaches with ultra-wide lenses over the years — think iPhone 14’s shaky video bug or Pixel 6’s focus woes. So, this kind of thing isn’t unique to Samsung, but it’s still a letdown for a premium device.
It’s important to note that many Galaxy S25 users state their cameras are working perfectly fine, suggesting this isn’t affecting every device. However, for those experiencing the rattling and focusing problems with the 0.6x lens, contacting Samsung support for potential repair or replacement seems to be the recommended course of action, especially if the device is still under warranty.
I’ve added a few other reports of the issue below for reference:

I'm deeply disappointed with my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, purchased on 10/02/2025. Despite servicing, the camera issue persists. I expect an urgent replacement, as I rely heavily on it.
