If you’re among the lucky buyers who got their Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Galaxy Z Flip 6 delivered a week earlier than expected, you may already be enjoying the fun and creative possibilities of the Motion Clipper feature in Motion Photos. But here’s the exciting news: Samsung will reportedly roll out the Motion Clipper feature to select older Galaxy devices through the One UI 6.1.1 update. This feature allows you to create animated stickers and GIFs directly from your Motion Photos.
Motion Clipper is a new addition to the Motion Photos feature, enabling users to separate objects from their photos and save them as animated stickers or GIFs. Imagine turning your favorite moments into lively, moving images that you can share with friends and family.
How does it work? It’s simple! When viewing a Motion Photo in your gallery, you can press and hold on the person or object you want to cut out. From there, you can save it as a GIF or an animated sticker in various styles. These stickers can be used in any app that utilizes the Samsung Keyboard Toolbar, including Messages and Messenger.
To save as a sticker, select ‘Save as Sticker’ to open a sticker selection window. Choose from various styles, including the new animated motion stickers. To save as GIF, select ‘Save as GIF’ to save the object as a moving image in the ‘Clipped images’ album. You can view these GIFs in your gallery just like regular photos.
Which Samsung devices will get Motion Clipper?
While Motion Clipper is currently available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, a Samsung forum moderator in the Korean community says that it will be rolling out to other devices through the One UI 6.1.1 update. This includes the Galaxy S22, S23, and S24 series, as well as the Galaxy S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 and S9 series.
Samsung is actively developing the One UI 6.1.1 update that will bring Motion Clipper to these devices. While the exact release date is yet to be announced, it’s definitely something to look forward to.
With Motion Clipper, you’ll be able to add a whole new level of fun and personalization to your chats and messages with unique animated stickers and GIFs.
