Garmin’s new subscription service is facing scrutiny after multiple users reported being charged for renewals despite having previously canceled their free trials.
Users across Reddit are sharing similar experiences with Garmin Connect+, the premium subscription tier that launched in March 2025. The pattern is concerning: subscribers cancel during their free trial period, receive confirmation emails from Garmin, but later discover their credit cards have been charged anyway.
“I canceled my Garmin Connect+ trial subscription and received an official confirmation email stating that my subscription had been successfully canceled, but I would retain access until the trial period ended on April 27th,” wrote Reddit user Unlucky_Monk_5190. “However, today I discovered that my credit card was charged for the renewal. Upon checking my account settings, I noticed the auto-renewal option was mysteriously re-enabled.”
Another user, Maleficent_Falcon_63, reported: “I had to cancel twice. The first time even though it said it was done, I had a reminder about the bill, so I checked and it wasn’t cancelled!”
It’s unclear how widespread the problem is, but there are at least three separate trending threads on the Garmin subreddit documenting similar complaints. Many users express frustration at having to repeatedly check their subscription status even after receiving cancellation confirmations.

Some subscribers have taken preemptive measures to avoid unwanted charges. One commenter mentioned disabling international transactions on their credit card to prevent Garmin from processing the renewal payment.
The timing suggests these problems are affecting the first wave of Garmin Connect+ trial users as their 30-day free periods come to an end in late April. While some speculate this could be intentional, others believe it’s likely a technical glitch in Garmin’s new subscription management system. Either way, the situation raises potential consumer protection questions, as automatic renewal practices are under increasing regulatory scrutiny.
Garmin has not yet released an official statement addressing these concerns. Users who have been incorrectly charged are advised to contact Garmin support directly and, if necessary, dispute the charge with their card issuer.
In the meantime, current Garmin Connect+ subscribers planning to cancel are being urged to verify their cancellation status multiple times and screenshot confirmation emails as evidence of their intent to discontinue the service.
