Google Calendar users are up in arms over a recent change that has disrupted their daily routines. The popular app, a go-to for millions to manage their schedules, has tweaked a feature that many counted on every day.
Before a recent update, tapping a day in the ‘Month’ view took users straight to the ‘Schedule’ view. That mode showed events in a simple list with timings, making it easy to see what was coming up next. Now, the same action switches to the ‘Day’ view instead. This view displays the full day from midnight to 11:59 pm, with events slotted into specific times. For many, it’s a clunkier way to check their plans.

User Manpreet D, a longtime fan of the app, didn’t hold back their disappointment. “I don’t like viewing my events this way and liked it better when it went automatically to Schedule mode,” they said in a post on Google’s support forums. The post has 46 votes from others who also have the same problem and is labeled a trending issue at the moment.
They’re not alone. User 15845928836102675548 chimed in with, “same!!!! Drives me crazy.” Anthony Worden added, “I want my default view when I click on a day to be schedule view and it was like this up till a few days ago.” Apart from this main thread, I found a few other posts about the issue too within Google’s forums. This clearly indicates that it’s a recent change and users aren’t happy about it.
In particular, I noticed most complaints are from those with iOS devices. However, upon testing, I noticed Google Calendar behaves the same way on Android too.
Whatever the case, the ‘Schedule’ view had a loyal following for a reason. It cut through the noise, letting users scan their day without wading through a full timeline. That was a lifesaver for anyone juggling a packed calendar. Now, people like Jim Clawson are scratching their heads, asking, “Did a recent update change that?”
Some have found quick fixes. Tapping the date in ‘Day’ view can switch it to ‘Schedule’ mode, but it’s not the same. It doesn’t stick when you go back to ‘Month’ view. “These are just band-aid solutions,” User 17847399639010994171 noted. “I think it’s a design change. Nothing we can do but send feedback and hope they revert it.”
Google hasn’t said a word about whether this was on purpose or if a fix is coming. Users are stuck waiting, wishing for the old setup to return. Until Google responds, users are left tweaking their habits or shouting into the void, hoping for a change.
