Not long ago, Android Authority dropped some big news: Google’s highly-anticipated battery charging limit feature was reportedly going live for Pixel phones in the November update. Google released the update yesterday with fixes for Pixel 8a screen flickering as well as Pixel 9 Bluetooth, camera and display issues. This new feature, which limits charging to 80%, has been a hot topic among Pixel fans ever since Android 15 Beta dropped, as it promises to help preserve long-term battery health — pretty handy for those of us who keep our phones plugged in overnight. Other brands like Apple and Samsung already have this function, so Google is actually late to the party.

The news quickly made its way to the Google Pixel subreddit. And surprise, surprise — a sea of Pixel owners eagerly updated to the latest November build… only to find, well, absolutely no sign of this feature in their Settings. Our in-house Pixel devices are out of reach since my colleagues are not in office today, but I’ll check with them to see if they got the feature after installing November update. I did ask a friend to check his Pixel 6a phone and nothing came up as well. The conversation is buzzing with comments from Pixel owners saying they haven’t received the feature despite updating to the latest November build.

“Just updated to November 5th update and can confirm I do not have this new setting yet. Hopefully it comes in December as I originally thought it would.”

“Nothing here, but I wasn’t really expecting it before QPR1 anyway.”

And there are many more like these. It’s possible that this might be a mix-up. Maybe Android Authority accidentally reported screenshots taken from an Android 15 QPR1 beta rather than the stable build. The QPR1 update was already expected to introduce the charging limit in December, so it feels a bit strange for this feature to show up now.

Another theory is that this could be a case of a server-side update that Google is selectively rolling out to test things before the broader December release. This wouldn’t be the first time Google has quietly enabled features on just a handful of devices before a full rollout. Some thought updating their Google Play system update would help, but so far, no luck there either.

And for those wondering what all the hype is about, here’s the scoop on the charging limit: When enabled, Pixel phones will stop charging at 80% capacity. Charging to 100% regularly can increase stress on the battery and speed up wear, so limiting the charge could help extend the overall life of the battery — great news for those of us who leave our phones plugged in for long hours.

Have you received battery charging limit on your Pixel?

So, here’s the million-dollar question, Pixel fans: Have you seen this feature pop up on your phone yet? Or, like us, are you still left tapping through Settings only to come up empty-handed?

We’d love to know — did Android Authority nail this one, or did the excitement jump the gun a bit? Let us know in the comments below.
