Update 07/04/25 – 3:33 pm (IST): A product expert on Google’s support forums confirmed that the company is looking into the problem. However, they also require additional details from users, such as the OS build number and the Google Phone app version, for assistance.
Original article published on March 27, 2025, follows:
Some Google Pixel users have noticed a new and persistent addition to their phone’s Recent Calls list. A ‘Help us to improve’ bubble now appears under every logged call. This feature asks users to share call transcripts with Google, and it’s causing a stir. Reports suggest it started popping up after recent updates, possibly tied to the recent March update or a new Google Phone app update. Users in places like Australia and Canada have flagged it, though it’s not clear if it’s a global rollout.
The bubble has frustrated many. It’s been called intrusive and a clutter in the call log. One user, SJTx, vented, “Why does Google clutter the phone app with this intrusive request? Every call logged in the call history has a big ugly demand from Google for a transcript of my call with a “help us to improve” request.” Privacy worries are also bubbling up. Sharing call transcripts raises red flags, especially in regions with strict laws. For example, in Victoria, Australia, sharing a recording without consent might be illegal, as one user pointed out.
Google hasn’t said much about this yet. There’s no official way to turn off the bubble in the call log. Some users, like Sim G., found a workaround for related notifications. They suggest pressing and holding the feedback prompt in the notification tray, then selecting “turn off notifications.” This stops the pop-ups after calls, but the bubble still lingers in the log. It’s a partial fix at best.
I haven’t seen these bubbles appear on my end. For reference, I’m in India. Others in the US and UK report no issues either, hinting at a regional test. Privacy remains the big concern. People wonder how Google handles this data and whether consent is clear enough. One user noted, “To ‘improve your call’ Google will receive transcripts—both written & audio, of your call, which is a massive invasion of privacy.”
For now, Pixel users are stuck with the bubble or looking at third-party dialer apps. Many hope Google adds a disable option soon. The clash between data-driven improvements and personal privacy is front and center here. I’m not sure about you, but I certainly wouldn’t want to share call transcripts with Google, even if it’s anonymously used. So let’s just hope there’s a clear way to get rid of the bubble so no one accidentally shares transcripts that they didn’t mean to.
