In a digital age where convenience is king, Google Search has always been a trusted companion. But recently, using Google Search on your iPhone has become a game of whack-a-mole with the “More actions” pop-up. This pop-up, which usually appears when you long-press on a word to translate it or save it, is now haunting some users even when they haven’t highlighted a thing.

The “More actions” bar seems to have a mind of its own. It appears unexpectedly, blocks the bottom of the screen, and refuses to disappear even when users tap the big, friendly “X” in the corner. Users have tried everything to banish the bar, from restarting their phones to reinstalling the Google app, but it keeps coming back like a persistent house guest.

I don’t have this problem on iOS 17.5. My colleague Mr. Dwayne Cubbins hasn’t encountered it either on iOS 18 Beta, which suggests the issue isn’t affecting everyone. There’s also no known pattern except that the glitch only affects iOS users.

The frustration is visible on Google’s support forum, where a thread about the issue has racked up nearly 750 upvotes. Users are sharing their woes, from “It interferes with everything on the screen” to “I’m so glad I’m not the only one!”

One ray of hope: A Google product expert named Pepper has chimed in on the forum thread, assuring users that the issue has been escalated to the development team for further investigation. Pepper has requested information about users’ devices and app versions to aid in the debugging process.

Hi All.

I have reported the issue to the team and they are currently looking into the issue. Will keep you updated. Meanwhile if you are facing the issue ,please mentioned the device OS version , Google app version , so that it will be helpful for the team.

Kind regards,
Pepper

In the meantime, affected Google Search users on iPhone will be hoping that the persistent “More actions” pop-up will get a fix soon.
