While most manufactures, including Samsung, are still trying to figure out ways to refine their folding phones, Huawei just dunked on everyone by launching the world’s first trifold phone. The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate boasts a massive 10.2-inch screen when it’s unfolded completely. And if you don’t need all that real estate, then you can unfold it once to get a 7.9-inch canvas to use. For normal tasks, you can use the 6.4-inch cover screen. So basically, you have a tablet, a standard foldable phone, and a candy bar style phone all in one package. All this cutting-edge tech comes with a hefty price tag of around $2,809 (RMB 19,999).

But that’s not even the crazy part. As the title indicates, if you — god forbid — accidentally damage the screen of your Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, you’ll have to pay around $1,123 (RMB 7,999) to replace the screen. That means, you could literally end up paying the price of a standard flagship smartphone, just to replace the OLED panel on this fancy trifold device.

Huawei notes that this $1,123 price tag applies only if you allow the company to recycle the damaged screen. If you, for whatever reason, decide to not let the company recycle the damaged screen, then you’ll have to pay a whopping $1,376 (RMB 9,799).

Luckily, that’s not the only option Huawei provides. You could bring the cost down by opting to install a refurbished screen. This will set you back around $983 (RMB 6999). But that’s not the only costly affair. If something goes wrong with the phone’s motherboard, you’ll have to shell out about $1,280 (RMB 9,099) to get it replaced.

For those curious, Samsung charges a nominal $200 fee to replace the OLED panel, metal bezel, and the battery the first time. If you’re unlucky enough to damage the panel again, you’ll end up paying $549 for the replacement. Google, however, does somewhat come close to what Huawei charges. The OG Pixel Fold’s inner screen repair kit costs $909.99 through iFixit.
