Instagram users have been witnessing several random changes and glitches lately. Last week, we reported on a glitch where Instagrammers were missing the menu option in the profile tab. Apart from that, there was a glitch that was preventing some users from uploading carousel posts with videos. Most recently, Instagram has added a new button in the media sharing UI in DMs.

Multiple users have taken to Reddit to ask what this new button does, since it seems to be redundant. The “arrow” button in question is showing up for users when they’re sending images or videos captured by the camera in Instagram DMs. The button appears right next to the “Send” button. Here is one of the multiple screenshots of the new button being shared online.

Since the arrow button is now in the spot where the “Send” button used to appear, many users claim it results in them tapping the button accidentally, only to find out that it does nothing. Instead of sharing the media, tapping the arrow button just results in the sharing screen closing.

This button is currently only live for some users, while others, like myself, don’t see it yet. I’ve tried looking for the button with no success on the Instagram app for Android and iOS. So, unless the function is not working as expected, hopefully, this new button doesn’t make it past the testing phase.

Feel free to drop a comment below letting me know if you’re seeing the new arrow button on Instagram.
