It seems many Instagram users are noticing that they are no longer able to go live on the app. Reports have started popping up online in the past few days claiming that the ‘Live’ button has simply disappeared from the app. This unannounced change has left many creators and casual users confused and frustrated, wondering why a core feature is suddenly unavailable.
The “Live” feature has become a staple for many on Instagram, allowing real-time interaction with followers for everything from Q&A sessions to product launches and casual chats. But now it’s playing a vanishing act.
Normally, to start a live broadcast, you’d just hit the plus sign to create new content and then swipe over to the “Live” tab. But for a growing number of people, that tab is simply gone. In my testing, the “Live” option didn’t show up on either my Android phone or my iOS device. And, for what it’s worth, trying to clear the cache and data on my Android phone didn’t bring the feature back, which usually helps with smaller glitches.
Many users are speculating that it’s a bug or a temporary glitch, which is most likely the case. Some have checked their account status, confirming they are in good standing with no violations of Instagram’s terms of service that might explain such a restriction. This really points to a technical hiccup rather than an intentional removal for specific accounts.
“I checked mine and it disappeared for me as well,” one user lamented on a thread discussing the issue. “My account status is in good standing so I doubt that’s the issue. Maybe it’s a glitch?”
Another user chimed in, highlighting the inconsistency — “Kinda doubt it. I have 4 accounts for different businesses (plus my own) and only one of them has the option for lives. And I barely use that one.”
This suggests the problem isn’t affecting all accounts universally, adding to the mystery. For now, Instagram hasn’t made any official announcement about the missing “Live” button. So We’ll just have to wait and see if there’s an update or a server-side tweak that brings back the feature. As usual, we’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will post an update if there’s something to share.
