A strange message popped up on Instagram’s App Store listing, telling at least a couple of users the app has been removed by the developer. But before anyone panics, this looks like a glitch rather than an actual takedown.
I spotted a Reddit post earlier where a user shared a screenshot showing Instagram’s App Store page displaying “No Longer Available” with text stating “The developer has removed this app from the App Store.” The post on r/Instagram quickly got some attention, with other users trying to figure out what was happening.
The same screenshot made its way to X, where user @sushensharma111 posted, “Instagram app removed from app stores in Canada.”
Things got a bit more interesting when another user, Optimal-Release9051, commented on the original thread, asking if anyone could fix the issue. They then posted their own screenshot in a separate Reddit thread showing the exact same error message on their device.
So far, only two people have confirmed seeing this error. Another Canadian user in the comment section said Instagram works fine for them and suggested it might be a problem on the original poster’s end. However, they didn’t confirm whether they were able to spot the Instagram app in the App Store.
There’s been no official statement from Meta or Instagram explaining what caused this message to appear. No tech news outlets have reported a widespread Instagram Canada ban either.
Given that it’s early morning in Canada right now (as of this writing), we might see more reports if this is a real issue. But based on the limited reports and lack of any official announcement, this looks like a temporary App Store glitch affecting a handful of users rather than an actual app removal.
Moreover, even the wording in the pop-up doesn’t exactly match what users should be seeing in case an app isn’t available in their country. Typically, if an app is restricted in a country, users will see a pop-up saying, “The app is not available in your country or region.”
Instead, the pop-up suggests that the app was completely removed from the App Store. In my testing, however, Instagram appears just fine on the App Store (India).
If you’re in Canada and seeing this error, you might want to wait a few hours before trying to reinstall the app. Others should avoid uninstalling it to begin with until we can confirm what caused some users to see the pop-up.
