Update 20/12/24 01:46 pm (IST): Following the wave of unexplained bans on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, hundreds of users from South America in particular have taken to X seeking a response from Meta. Posts with the hashtag #MetaResponde have been popping up on X for several hours. Unfortunately, Meta is yet to offer up any kind of explanation for the bans.

Meta seems to be swinging the ban hammer hard this week. Users across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp have been reporting sudden account blocks, often with no explanation. Complaints are popping up on Reddit and X, with many baffled by the sheer scale of the bans. A significant number of reports appear to be coming from Brazil, but it’s not clear if the issue is limited to one region.
One Reddit user shared their frustration after being logged out of both Facebook and WhatsApp, claiming they hadn’t done anything suspicious. Another said their WhatsApp account, which they rely on for business, was blocked with no chance to recover it. “I’m desperate right now,” they wrote. Several others chimed in, saying their appeals to Meta were instantly rejected. One user joked bitterly that their accounts had been “zuccked,” a nod to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The bans aren’t just hitting one platform either. Many people report losing access to all their Meta accounts simultaneously. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp — all gone in one sweep. Some users have managed to recover their Instagram accounts using appeals or identity verification, but success seems rare. One person even mentioned recovering their main Instagram while losing access to their dog’s account. “Sadly, my dog’s Instagram account got lost,” they stated.
For most, the recovery process seems to have been a nightmare. Some say they can’t even find their accounts through Meta’s recovery tools, as if they’ve been wiped from existence. This isn’t even the first time we’ve noticed something like this. Not long ago, we saw a growing number of WhatsApp users claiming that their accounts were banned for no apparent reason. However, this new wave of reports goes beyond WhatsApp.
As of now, Meta has not issued an official statement about the situation. The lack of communication is only adding to users’ frustration. Many are left speculating whether this is a technical glitch or a deliberate crackdown on suspicious activity. Without any clear answers, affected users are stuck waiting and hoping for a resolution.

me too, my facebook account was suspended on 5th Jan without any reason. I didnt link my IG account with FB, but still can account disabled.

Hi, i am from Malaysia. On the 19th December 2024, 7:00am in the morning, found out all my META related apps & accounts, both personal & business, interconnected with the same email address & contact number, has all been disabled overnight. No warning, no notifications, not account suspended, straight to "Account Disabled". I was still checking and browsing these apps with no issues on the same day 12:36am before i went to bed. Below are the list of my disabled META accounts:- Personal : - Facebook (since 2007) - Instagram (since 2012) - WhatsApp (since 2010) - Threads (since early 2024) Business: - Facebook & Instagram (since August 2019) Upon trying to recover my accounts / account review appeal submissions, I was prompted with messages like "Your account does not follow our community standards / terms of service". I know clearly that i have not done anything that has cross the line. In fact i rarely post things except stories. Most of the time i am only browsing through on Facebook & Instagram. WhatsApp? It's only normal conversations with friends, family, business accociates, job & work related matters. Over the night, i am being cut off from my circle, clean. It's upsetting & heart breaking loosing all the memories, photos, videos, links, favorite pages that i follows, groups that i was active in etc. I also have a lot of important documents, files, messages in WhatsApp that are related to both personal & work. No words can describe my anger on this mess. My accounts are legit & genuine, F2A activated, i changes my passwords annually, i have not used 3rd party applications to manage my accounts, i have not bought "followers" for "likes", and i have not posted anything that goes against the law. I really do not see how & what have i done to deserve this. The Help Center is as good as none-existence. Endless clicks that leads to endless loop, taking you back to where you started. All they do is keep telling you that "you have breach our Terms of Service/ we have received large amount of complains" "This decision is final and you cannot appeal again", without further options. Year 2024 definitely didn't end well for me, thanks to META.
